Share the positivity
I’ve been lucky enough to work with some really great leaders and one of my most important takeaways has been positivity - and most importantly, sharing it! Creating a positive environment boosts morale, creative expression and courage to try new ideas. It also helps people to grow into their strengths by focusing on the things that they do well, rather than the things they need to improve on. We all want to do more of the things that we’re good at. Besides - everyone loves a compliment!
I know it seems a little cringey but if you still need convincing, here are a few favourites I’ve received over the years…
“You are great at leading the team and always notice people's strengths. You are super supportive and encourage me to take bold risks. You are great at bringing the wider team into the creative process in a productive way and are great at articulating the design problem, as well as making decisions. Having you as my line manager has certainly increased my confidence!”
— Izzy Watson, Designer, Catalysis
“You take an active role in the culture and wellbeing of the studio and are very aware of how you can mentor/push those around you in the studio to do their best work”
— Pip, Art Director, Catalysis
“You make collaboration fun. I love working with you and iterating off each other’s ideas”
— Rita, Designer, ComplyAdvantage
“Your infectious personality and energy makes Zest a brighter place and your clients happy. You bounce as you walk and it makes me smile. You’re a bundle of fun.”
— Bee Collins, Managing Director, Zest the Agency
“Your relentless positivity, whatever is thrown at you is inspiring.”
— David Gyertson, Digital Director, Zest the Agency
